Our trusty Epson Stylus CX5200 came to an abrupt end the other day (so much for trusty). For some reason or other it didn’t want to print colour anymore, even after replacing the bloody expensive ink cartridges. The search for a new all-in-one printer was quick and decisive as I knew exactly what I wanted. The new Canon Pixma MP760.
The printer has a wealth of features. Too many to name here, but here are a few I have noticed. You can scan film negatives and slides to your PC or use the film direct function to print them on the spot with no PC required, it’s a colour or black & white copier, it’s has a high scan resolution of 2400 x 4800 dpi optical and 48-bit colour depth, it has two trays, which allows different paper to be used, it has a built in card reader to read all types of memory cards, if you have a Canon digital camera like I do, you can hook up the camera directly to the printer and print photos on the fly, the Canon MP760 has a built in 2.5 inch colour LCD screen, so you can view the photos or scans or 35mm film or slides directly, you can also edit and crop and spin the photos automatically, you can print 25ppm mono & 17ppm colour. The printers ink cartridges are also way cheaper (£8 a cartridge), than the Epson or the HP. So there you have it. Just some of the features of this wonderful printer.
If you want to read a review of the printer, there is a good review over at Steve’s Digicams. He covers everything you might want to know about this little beauty.
I would highly recommed this printer and for the price you cannot go wrong.
