    Where exactly are you getting stuck? What part of the document do you get too?

    Did you sign up to Symbiansign.com?

    Hi Mike, Im getting the same problem, I get to step 10 of the tutorial and get slightly confused, im not sure whether I have to download FExplorer or whether it should already be there, then how do I open with notepad? And finally where do I store the file on my phone so that it can be opened with ease. I have got an N95 8gb, therefore no card slot. Thanks in advance for any reply.

    Is it normal for symbian signed to say when one try to register an account:Your email has address has been rejected as we do not accept registrations from publicly available email domains (e.g. gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc).

  5. blank Mike says:

    Yes, it is normal. I ended up using a work email address. (naughty Bowen)… and it worked fine.

    James, all I can say is "you are not following the instructions…. I don’t know what step 10 is, but it is really simple if you follow the instructions".

    hi, I already make a donation but i couldn’t register in samir’s website. how come like that pls help….

  7. blank Mike says:

    Hey Kelly,

    Once you donate, Samir normally sends you an email. Well that was the case during the BETA stages. The Beta stages are over as far as I know, and you can download the file directly from his website. Here is a link to the file – Rotate Me (from Samir’s website).

    It’s unsigned, you will have to sort out the signing yourself. If you have donated as you have said you have, then you’ll know what to do, because Samir emails everyone a special email detailing where to go, and what to do next?

    That is all I can do for you.

    Cheers,

    Mike

    It really is very frustrating that the Sybian site will not accept public facing email addresses, such as MSN. I am currently unemployed and therefore do not have a suitable email address with which to register, and I so desperately want to Sign my copy.
    Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get over this problem – e.g., do you know of an email account I can create for the purposes of registering on this site?

  9. blank Mike says:

    Nick,

    If you have donated to Samir, then he will have already sent you details about how to sign the beta or where to go to get a signed copy. You would even have the opportunity to ask him for a signed copy of the Rotate Me beta. You don’t need to go through the hassle of signing up with Symbian Signed.

    I can only assume you have downloaded the file off his website but have not donated. The guy has done amazing things for Symbian phone users, it’s only fair we the global community show our appreciation and donate a little something for his cause.

  10. blank Nick Lee says:

    Yep, you’re right, I downloaded it from *somewhere*, and that somewhere advertised it as FREE. Having to pay someone else to get it to a state where it works means that it ain’t free anymore. Don’t get me wrong – hats off to Samir for what he has done, but it was mightily frustrating to have to spend quite some time to figure out that I was not going to be able to do this for free.
    I now have a ‘non-public’ email addy so I will try it for myself. If all else fails then I will resign myself to the fact that I will not be getting much in the way of freeware for this phone.
    No insult intended towards Samir, believe me.

    OK, I am now a VERY HAPPY CHAPPY!!! I have got a login to Symbian Signed, followed some pretty clear instructions (http://www.gosymbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=757) on how to generate an unlocked copy of RotateMe 2, and it works!!! And isn’t that application wicked!!!!!!!
    OK, so I’ve bleated like a woman, maybe, but I still maintain that this makes the term "Freeware" a little bit of the truth stretched if you don’t follow all of this through.
    I’ll shut up now and play with my new toy!

    The software will be FREE at some point if you are willing to wait for the BETA to finish. But I guess if you are not willing to wait, even a fiver is considered a donation to Samir, and I am sure he will appreciate it. Just imagine if everyone who has downloaded his software gives him £5, the guy will be super motivated to do more applications. That is all I meant!

    There are a lot of free applications for the Nokia N95, and I have loads of links on my Mobile link (6th icon on the left of this website).

    Samir is working on three cool applications at the moment (Rotate Me, Nokmot, and Shut up)… and I hope it keeps it up.

    Dear 82.39.101.185,

    I have blanked out all the swear words in your post, but thought I would post your comments just to show the world what a nasty piece of work you are. If people like Lee want to get stuff for free, then it’s his choice to do so. Samir has said it’s FREEWARE, yet doesn’t give the software out unless you donate. (During the beta stages). The software is free now, if you waited patiently for the Betas to lapse.

    What I don’t appreciate is you 82.39.101.185, coming on here and writing abuse about another person. If you don’t have anything nice or better to say, the don’t say it!

    Its just too much hassle to go through all this b*ll*cks to get a piece of software that does the same thing as you take 1 second to pull open the multimedia buttons which make the screen go into landscape mode anyway. I tried getting rotate me signed today and wasted 30 minutes of my time and just got to the last stage and couldn’t get any further so to me its all a waste of my time and patients.

  16. blank Mike says:

    Have you signed up to his forum or donated to his cause?
    By default the Nokia N95 can only rotate in one direction. However with the Rotate Me software, you can rotate the phone left or right, making the menu buttons appear on the left hand side for left handed people (like myself) or rotate it to the right. The menus work either way, and this is for me the best feature of the application, and it takes quicker than 1 second to flick it back.

    I get regular emails from Samir and the latest was on the 15th of March:

    Message sent to you follows:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Hi donators,
    First I want to apologize for my absence of these days.
    As you know I’m not a professional but a single student developer. Some family and personnal obligations prevented me to work on my projects.
    About the signing process: Symbian has changed his signing process. Now, to be able to request a signed version, my beta apps have to have an UID in Test range. During the next week, all my apps, will be posted on the forum with this change.
    The good news is it is not necessary to request a certificate or to get a symbian signed account. You can sign your apps using this form:
    Note: unless you have donated, he will not issue you with a username and password.
    About rotateMe:
    rotateMe 2.1 Beta 2 is out and available for rotateMe donators at
    http://www.bysamir.fr/forum
    Changelog:
    – Settings not saving bug fixed.
    – A new option: Autorotation on Gallery only.
    If this option is working well, I will add a dialog to choose your apps.
    – UID changed to be in test range.
    You can now sign yourself rotateMe by using this form:
    https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/page/public/openSignedOnline.do
    Don’t forget to uninstall any previous version of rotateMe, before installing this file.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I am not sure what you are doing that is taking 30 minutes. It is a really easy process if you follow his instructions.

  17. blank djteknovibe says:

    I tried registering and get an error message saying my email address is not a known email address but it is my REAL email address.

  18. blank Mike says:

    You must use a valid email address, other than the freebie ones e.g. gmail, yahoo, lycos, aol, msn etc are not allowed. I used my works email address (not ideal), but what choice did I have?

    Good luck!
