RTFM before you do anything with the Mede8er. Like anything new, one should always read the manual or beginner guide. ūüėČ It is useful information to quickly find your way around the remote and the menus, but truthfully it doesn’t really offer you much help in the way of firmware upgrades etc. For that you need to visit the Mede8er Forum where you can find everything you could possibly want to know about the device and more.

The default firmware on my Mede8er was version 1.2.1 and one of the first problems I spotted was that the System Information screen was showing my hard disk as a 1TB disk instead of 2TB. I didn’t panic, as I had already viewed the change logs for all the previous firmware releases and knew this problem had already been resolved. So I didn’t waste too much time with the old firmware.

The latest firmware for the Mede8er is version 2.1.0 and can be found here: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php?board=19.0 – Follow the Emergency Installation Procedure instructions and the upgrade is a breeze. The interface on the Mede8er is very simple so getting around the menus is easy, actually it is a pleasure.
