Yesterday I replaced my old 26 x 4.0 tyre with a new Fincci 26 x 4.0 Inch 100-559 fat tyre. While the tyre was off, I inspected the rim and noticed it was buckled in one area. I used some vice-grips to force the rim back into a straight position. I also installed the tyre with Tannus Armour, plus put some green slime in the front tube.
I didn’t have a route in mind but thought I would head along Cycle Route 21 and see how the tyre handled my front rim. I checked the tyre every 3 miles, and it looked good. At the 13-mile I checked it again as I was about to head down steep and rough holey paths through the Titsey Plantation. This would be a good test for the tyre. Thankfully when I reached the bottom and checked the tyre again, it was all good. There was no sign of the wheel popping off the rim. What a relief. After that, I was able to relax and enjoy the ride.
