Yesterday was one of the first warm days of the year and we made sure to enjoy it with a nice long cycle.
In the morning we got the bikes out, pumped the tyres, cleaned and lubed the chain, tested the gears, checked the brakes, made sure the batteries were charged, helmets were updated (new firmware), and the electric tyre pump fully charged. Then we were off on our first ride of the year. Nothing too strenuous. I didn’t plan a route, so we road around the Quarry, and up into the North Downs under the M25, towards the lovely lookout at Caterham. Then back down towards Brewer Street, and along the Cycle Route 21 towards Merstham and Redhill. Unfortunately, there was a stretch of track that was underwater, which meant we turned back and headed towards South Nutfield instead. It was a lovely ride nonetheless.
The battery showed 3 bars remaining (out of five) after our 18-ride, and that was mostly using mode 1 on uphills. I am fairly confident we could ride between 30 and 40 miles on a single charge.
