That is right, today we joined the East Surrey Walkers and Ramblers.

Part of moving to Surrey was to get out more, and now that we are surrounded by countryside, there is no excuse and there is no better way to explore the countryside than with the Ramblers.

Walk 1000 miles challenge

To fully commit to the walking idea we also signed up to the walk 1000 miles in 2020 challenge.

This shouldn’t be too hard to achieve given the daily target is only need 2.73 miles. I already do half that amount every day walking to work from London Bridge, while Jo achieves this with her walk to and from work. Throw in a 10 mile weekend ramble here and there and we’ll be hitting that target in no time at all. It is also good training for the Camino Part 2. 😉

East Surrey Walkers – Outwood morning walk – 28 December 2019

Our first walk with the East Surrey Walkers was last year on the 28th of December 2019. Luckily they allow walkers to join them on one or two walks for nothing, to get a feel for the crowd. The walk started in Outwood and was a loop walk of around 7.79 miles. The footpaths were very muddy given all the rain we had over Xmas, but the walk, scenery and company was very enjoyable.

East Surrey Walkers – Oxted to Titsey walk – 01 January 2020

Today we did our second free walk with the Easy Surrey Walkers. It started in Oxted, went under the M25 and up through the Titsey Place estate and then back down to Oxted. It was 6.2 miles through farmland and forest. Again it was a very enjoyable walk through a little bit of mud, a lot of mist and haze. It certainly wasn’t the sunniest of days. There were a lot more people on this walk. In fact the walk was lead by two partially blind people, which is a feat in its own right. Afterwards we had a lovely meal at the Wetherspoons in Oxted.
